Dr. Mashima is an Associate Professor and Graduate Chair in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Hawai`i, John A. Burns School of Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She received her PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Cincinnati. She served as Chief of the Speech Pathology section at Tripler Army Medical Center from 1991 to 2015. Her service to ASHA includes the Joint Committee on Interprofessional Relations Between the American Psychological Association (APA) and ASHA, Continuing Education Board, Ad Hoc Committee on Telepractice in Speech-Language Pathology, Working Group on Telepractice, Multicultural Issues Board, and Coordinating Committee for the Vice-President for Planning. She served on the State of Hawai’i Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology, and as President of the Hawaii Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
