Dr. Kenric M. Murayama was born and raised in Hawaii. In 2015, he became the Chair of Surgery for the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is a graduate of the John A. Burns School of Medicine and did his surgery training at Northwestern University. He has been a leader in minimally invasive surgery for over 20 years. Dr. Murayama’s clinical interest is minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery with a focus on laparoscopic treatment for disorders of the esophagus such as acid reflux disease and hiatal hernia, laparoscopic repairs of abdominal wall and groin hernias, and laparoscopic treatment of gallbladder and stomach disorders. Dr. Murayama joined Hawaii University Surgeons for his clinical practice in general surgery and minimally invasive general surgery in the treatment of gastrointestinal surgery Laparoscopic treatment of esophagus, gallbladder at Queen’s Medical Center and Queen’s West.
